Who is a King Murphy's Retreat for?

We pride ourselves on inclusivity and welcome travelers of all ages, from all backgrounds. Our trips are active and do require a moderate level of fitness.

Who facilitates?

King Murphy was founded by John Murphy and Dennis King, who have been partners-in-life for the past 25 years. After meeting in Nashville in 1999, John and Dennis moved to Los Angeles where they lived until 2005, where they ended up back in Nashville, after a short stay in Philadelphia.

John was a highly sought-after wardrobe stylist for the past 23 years, dressing musicians and actors for music videos, photoshoots and red carpet events; he has always been in the business of making people feel good about themselves.

Dennis has over 12 years experience in the hospitality industry, working as general manager and F&B director for renowned restaurants in LA. Since moving to Nashville he has built a successful career in Real Estate and Property Management.

Their spiritual journey began when John was battling some personal demons with addiction and codependency, which drove him to seek personal development and healing with reiki masters and energy practitioners. This journey led him to experienced shamanic healers Colleen McCann and Stephen Feely of Pampamasayok Shaman School, where both he and Dennis began journeying the Medicine wheel of the Q’ero line of Peruvian Shamanism. In addition to their Shamanic studies, John has always had an affinity for The Magdalene and the legends of the White Ladies and Celtic Goddess in the South of France. Their repeated visits and expansive knowledge of the region inspired them to share these special people and sacred sites with like-minded spiritually engaged travelers…and King Murphy was born.

What about sustainability?

Responsible travel is at the core of what we do. We stay in locally owned and run accommodation, hiring local guides, historians and experts, supporting local chefs and artisans and mystics.

How do I get there?

We work with Shannon Radel and her team at Rising Star Travel out of Nashville to find the best flights to Toulouse, from wherever your journey originates and then returning, flying out of Marseille. The price of the trip includes airfare, up to $1,500. If you choose to upgrade seats or take a Premium or Business class you will be responsible for any overages. If you choose to book your own ticket with miles, we ask that you arrive within a certain window of time for one of the pick ups from the airport, or you will be responsible for your own transportation to the chateau.

Is there Ground Transportation? Yes! We will provide transportation to and from the airport, along with all tours and excursions during your trip.

Will I get time to myself?

While this is a group trip and we pride ourselves on fun, warm-hearted, nurturing, social adventures, we make every effort to ensure sufficient solitude. Itineraries have been curated with periods of downtime, and we invoke the principle of ‘noble silence’ during mindful hikes, and offer mornings of quiet contemplation and reflection. There is optional morning meditation incorporating a Kundalini Breath of Fire practice, and travellers have the option of booking energy work and healing treatments with certified shamanic energy practitioners, massage therapists and other experienced healers.
